New words for talking about sex

One of the difficulties in writing about sex is that the usual words used to talk about sex are all loaded with meaning, much of it negative. I have avoided this problem by using new words.

I hope that these new words quickly become familiar as you read more about Devotional Sex.

The new words are:

Desire  Penis
Pleasure  Vagina
Bud  Anus
Joy  Intercourse
Play  To give pleasure by using your hands, including masturbation and massage
     Pleasure Play         Masturbating her Pleasure
     Desire Play         Masturbating his Desire
Kiss  To give pleasure by using your mouth, lips, and tongue, including oral sex
Pleasure Kiss         Oral sex on her Pleasure
Desire Kiss         Oral sex on his Desire
Foot Kiss         Using a mouth to pleasure a foot
Kiss         An ordinary kiss (mouth to mouth)
Climax Orgasm with loss of sexual energy
for a male - an orgasm with ejaculation
for a female - an orgasm after which she wants to end sexual activity
Crest Orgasm without loss of sexual energy
for a male - an orgasm without ejaculation
for a female - an orgasm after which she still has sexual energy

Using these new words

The words we use make a big difference to how we think and feel. For example, the words "terrorist" and "freedom fighter" are two very different ways of describing the same person!

We are so used to the words we use for talking about sex that it is hard to recognize the negative effect many of the traditional words have on how we feel. Replacing the traditional terms with these new words really can make sex seem more fun and sensual.

Couples who practice Devotional Sex can, of course, use any words they wish - all these new words are optional.

And you do not need practice Devotional Sex to use these new words - they can be used by anybody.

I encourage all readers to try using these new words. They will seem strange at first, but you will quickly get used to them.
Now that I am used to these new words I find it hard to imagine going back to any of the traditional words.

Tonight, with your partner, you might enjoy some Desire Play, a Pleasure Kiss, and then some Joy. Doesn't that sound fun and sensual!

Why these words were chosen

All the traditional words for talking about sex are either cold and clinical, strange or sound silly, or are associated with vulgar speech.

I wanted something friendly and sexy. (More)

New words for talking about sexual positions

After creating new names for common sexual activities, it felt appropriate to also create some new names for the common sexual positions. (More)
