Why the roles are known as `Princess´ and `Knight´

The word `Princess´ has several meanings - some of them with negative connotations. If these negative meanings can be ignored, and the intended meaning accepted, the word `Princess´ then perfectly captures the role of a female Devotee.

Why `Princess´?

A female Devotee enjoys a lifestyle in which she always feels special. Her partner always desires her, and to balance his desire, she has the power to control sensual and sexual activities. She is not always controlling what happens - this is far too much work. Instead she just feels comfortable knowing that whenever she says something will or will not happen, her partner obliges. She uses her power quietly and gently, and the dynamic feels normal and natural.

The best word I have found to describe this role is "Princess".

One problem with the word princess is that one of its meanings is `a rich, spoiled, selfish, and overly materialistic young woman.´ Please try to ignore this meaning when reading this site.

The meaning of princess that I intend is the princess of medieval times, but brought up-to-date. A Devotional Princess is a woman who is confident about and enjoys her sexuality. She is not a demure lady, but a pro-active and lusty modern woman!

I have found that at first some people do not like the term Princess. Unfortunately I have not been able to think of a better word. I have found that once you get used to the ideas that underpin Devotional Sex, and experience the reality, the word princess starts to work very well. It quickly loses its inappropriate meanings, and soon only means the very special role of a female Devotee.

It may feel right for a Knight to respond to all instructions from his Princess by saying "Yes, Princess".

Why `Knight´?

The word `Knight´ both matches the word `Princess´, and captures the strength and devotion of a male Devotee.

If you see a picture of a medieval knight kneeling devotedly at the feet of his princess, you do not see a weak man. A knight is a man who is strong in both body and character. He maintains his masculinity even when he is devoted to and willing to obey his princess.

This image corresponds with the male role in Devotional Sex,
and is a great match to the word princess, so a male Devotee is called a Knight.

Alternative names for the roles

Though this site always uses the terms Princess and Knight to describe the female and male roles in Devotional Sex, couples who practice Devotional Sex are free to use their own terms. There are many possibilities. (More)
