Practicing Devotional Tao means that a Knight always feels some background erotic energy, and his Princess is very easily able to get her Knight aroused whenever she wishes.
This is why Devotional Sex is not just a sexual activity which a couple does for an hour or two, but something which is aways, to a greater or lesser extent, a part of your whole life.
Activities which can be practiced to make the most out of being able to Crest, and to help manage the Knight's erotic energy, include:

A season of Devotional Sex is everything that happens between one ejaculation and the next. Some seasons will be short, and some long.
Each season is made up of one or more episodes of sexual activity. For the Knight it can feel that even though there is a break between episodes, his sexual journey flows on from one episode to the next, and that to him everything that happens in the one season makes up one long sexual adventure. A Knight's erotic energy usually increases as a season progresses.
If a season starts without any activity, and the Knight knows that his Princess wants a rest, his erotic energy will build slowly. But if a Princess starts a season with some high-energy activities, a Knight can quickly return to having a higher than usual background erotic energy.
During a season a Knight may have a peak of erotic energy where he has poor control (and is desperate to Climax), but find that the next day he has regained control and is relatively calm about having to wait until his Princess allows him to Climax. (More)
Devotional Sex is powered by the Knight's higher than usual erotic energy.
With Devotional Sex the Knight's background erotic energy level is deliberately kept higher than if practicing traditional Tao and lower than if doing BDSM-style ejaculation denial.

A Princess controls her Knight's level of erotic energy by what she does and what she says.
Her main control is not allowing her Knight to Climax when she wants his erotic energy to build up, and to have him Climax when she wants her Knight to be calmer.
One of the joys of being a Princess is that during a season of Devotional Sex she is able to get her Knight excited whenever she wants, and once she has had enough tell him to become calm.
